OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS
George DeLoache, Board Chair
George DeLoache has served on the Board of Directors since 2020. He is the founder and principal of Church Street Company, which has provided acquisition, development, and asset management services for its investor clients since its formation in 1993. Active in his community, George has held board positions or been active with a variety of community organizations including the City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation & Greenways Board, Hope Elementary Charter School, Building Together Ministries, The Episcopal Housing Ministry, the North Carolina Theatre, and Holy Trinity Anglican Church. George graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (1983).
Todd Ussery
Todd Ussery joined our Board of Directors in 2016, although he has been close to the ministry since its inception. Todd is a native of Raleigh, NC and graduated from North Carolina State University. Todd
lives in Charleston, South Carolina and is in the homebuilding business. Todd and his wife Catherine have three children, Parker, Wilson and Leila, who equally share the passion and conviction for caring for orphaned children in Panamá, as well as within their own community. Todd and Catherine were previously licensed as foster care providers and adopted Wilson through what was initially a foster care placement. The Ussery family was seemingly complete for many years, but God brought Leila into their family through a private adoption in 2019. Todd has made numerous visits to Panamá where he has seen the overwhelming and heart-breaking need for the body of Christ and Heart’s Cry Children’s Ministry to defend and care for
orphaned children in Panamá, particularly those with special needs.
Joanna Hauser, Secretary
Joanna Hauser joined our Board as Secretary in 2023. She had the joy of visiting Casa Providencia with her family in 2022 and is looking forward to returning in 2025. Having heard about Heart’s Cry for years, she and her family loved meeting the children and seeing firsthand what the Lord is doing in Panama. Joanna is a Raleigh native and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is married to Justin and mom to John, Will, and Anna. She is a former Wake County teacher and has continued to use her teaching skills through various roles at church and in her children’s schools. Joanna has served on athletic and parent volunteer boards, including leading as President of St. David’s School’s parent organization. She is thrilled to be a member of the Heart’s Cry Board.
Daniel Gunn
Dan and his amazing wife, Marvi, were among the first people Matt and Misty (Heart's Cry Founders) met upon arriving in Panama in 2008. Dan was a missionary kid, spending part of his childhood growing up in the Panamanian jungle as his parents translated the Bible into the language of the Buglere Indians. He grew up in Panama, then went on to receive a BA in Business & Economics from Wheaton College and an MBA from the University of Southern California. After an impressive career in the aviation business, Dan is now the Senior Vice-President of Operations for Copa Airlines. Dan and Marvi are deeply committed Christians and have hosted a beautiful fellowship meeting in their house for 20 years. They have 5 beautiful children and have "parented" or discipled many others in navigating their lives with Jesus. We are blessed to have Dan serve on our board of directors.
Caleb Burr
Caleb joined the board of Heart’s Cry in 2024. He led a trip down to Casa Providencia in 2019 through his role at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. He currently serves as a pastor there leading the Family Ministry Team. He served in several roles at the Falls Church Anglican in Northern Virginia before his current position.
Caleb is married to Paige, and they have three daughters—Halle, Garner and Quinn. Caleb spends his time wrangling (and being wrangled by!) his children. He roasts his own coffee, has run a few marathons, and has visited every continent other than Antarctica.
Caleb graduated summa cum laude from Wheaton College in 2013, double majoring in Biblical & Theological Studies and Christian Education. He obtained his master’s degree from Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry in 2017.
